Ok so i just bought her a month or so ago and knew she would need work. I know the motor mounts are shot and other misc stuff. So anyway the comp. was a little down so i decided what the heck try the seafoam app sugested in the forums somewhere, smoked, sputtered spit then started running better that ever. Took a few rides around the block(no tag yet) more power and running like it should.

Problems started when i wanted to see if comp got better partially because i forgot to pull the fuel pump fuse the first time. Great test #'s 1=185 2=176 3=180 4=178 approx. So i put the plugs in(new ngk V power) hook the dist. wire/plug wires back up put fuse back in it place and start her up... Runs good for 10-15 sec then dies, restart give gas bogs bad and dies, I figure just needs fuel. Get more gas let the pump turn on and confirm its humming right two or three times still will only idle 10-15/bog w/gas. I go get a new Z32 fuel filter today(old one was nasty) still no dice. Help advice Thanx

new info

so i tried to diag the problem some more and found out the motor will run(albeit rough) with the mafs unplugged, as soon as i plug it back in it will die within a few seconds. so i thought bad mafs took it out to check the elements, the whole thing is clean as new everything in working order. then i checked the mafs plug loom the jacket is split like there was someone it there messing around, three wires are intact but one is running to an engine ground on the plenum between runners 1 and 2...normal??

honestly a bad MAFS cannot be seen with the naked eye. in my experience.. i had a MAFS that just went bad on it's own but obviously looked like everything was in working order. my friend told me to clean it. so i cleaned it with Mass Air Flow cleaner which is basically Brake Cleaner (that spray that dries of really fast) and that helped a bit but reallie didnt do much... went months trying to fix it.. replacing EGR solenoids and all that bs.. thing was clean as a whistle and showed absolutely no signs of anything wrong. then one day.. my friend was like.. here try mine (he had an S13 at the time too) .. sure enough we took his off..and plugged it into my car.. and WHAM.. brand new car!!.. it was amazing.. then i plugged mine into his car.. and WHAM.. dead. .. sputtered a few times then dead...

so my advice to you is this.. if you have any friends with an S13 MAFS around.. tell them to let you borrow it for 5 min. if you switch them out and all is well.. then problem solved.. you need a new MAFS.. (of course this is assuming you need a new MAFS)

or.. if you're interested.. i have a spare MAFS off a '92 s13 hatch KA24DE w/the pigtail still attached to it.. if you believe your wiring has gone bad. ive used this MAFS in my s13 and worked perfectly. this was actually the one i bought to replace mine in my 91 s13 before i got into my accident...

$60 Shipped. lmk if you're interested

btw. to put a pic on your sig.. the pic has to be hosted by a site.. in my case photobucket.com .. upload your pic there then where you would put your sig..

put [ I M G ](direct link to your picture)[ / I M G ]

be sure to remove all spaces !!

also sig sizes have to be at max 600x200.. so be sure to resize to email settings in photobucket

But i'm still curious if the kid who had her last swapped out the mafs from a different nissan(300zx?) and just did a ****ty job, do you or any one know how i could tell? picture perhaps. thanx again sleepy and good luck with car situation
