Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of rebuilding / restoring a 1991 tt that has seen better days. The car looks ok, but when you look closer there are just so many wrong "fixes" it really makes me wonder about the car as a whole - hence the restoration project.

Most things along the way have been simple enough to figure out, but when I pulled off the oil pan today (engine is out already) I noticed some gouges on the crankshaft that I can't think they would have come from the factory like that. To be fair the car was running ok before the rebuild (small coolant, oil, and pwr steering leaks) so I would guess this is something that happens in a previous rebuild.

Does anyone know if this looks 'normal' or if this is the result of a poor attempt at grinding the crankshaft, or anything really. I don't want to replace what doesn't need it, but this one has me confused. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

Fyi: pics coming but I guess I have to do that from a computer...
