I ran this question at the bottom of another Forum and I didn't get a answer on it so I thought i'd ask it again. Can Someone verify for me where the Speed Sensor is on a 1991 Q45? Is it on the Transmission or Speedometer Clustor? ...and if its in the speedometer cluster what year speedos will work with a 1991 Q45. Thanks....

Can you describe what you are trying to fix??

The speedo sensor is located on the tailshaft of the transmission, pretty easy to get to underneath the car.. That is the sensor that controls the speedo.

HOWEVER, there are other systems on the car that get the speed signal from the SPEEDOMETER, not the sensor on the trans.. Seems strange, but thats how it is..

The clusters are all compatible 90-93, they changed a bunch of stuff around in 94. Not sure if they are plug and play or not, not sure if anyone has ever tried? My guess is probably not.

My 1991 Q45A Speedometer intermittently will not register and the Power Steering will become inoperative, and the ACTSUS light will come on. A guy told me that possibly could be caused by a Speed Sensor going out. I can get the part if I know were on the car it is.

That is most likely the instrument cluster.. I woudl change out the cluster with a used one, more often do we see clusters go out than speed sensors..

I'm having this exact issue. Did anyone figure out what was the culprit? It sure feels like a loose ground or something
