Looking for a reasonable priced reman alternator that will be worth putting in and not fail in a year. I am stock no amps subs fogs or underglow.

Dealer is discontinued and wants $400+ for one out of California. :wtf2:

I heard there is a guy named JOE that sells remans for $200, but I don't know how to contact him..

:welcome: to NICO!

I've also heard that OEM is discontinued.

Joe was the parts manager at Infiniti of Scottsdale AZ. He's not there anymore, but even if he was - if it's non-stock he wouldn't be able to get one since he worked through the same channels as your local dealership.

The best alternative to a new factory one would be a unit remanufactured by Hitachi, since they were the OEM for Nissan on the Q alternators. Advance Auto Parts sells it for about $300. This eBay seller has it for a little under $200 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alternator-HITA ... d3&vxp=mtr

The Hitachi part number is LR1110-701BAM

Be careful out there. The aftermarket auto parts world is full of counterfeit parts. I bought one in a Hitachi box from a guy in Atlanta that lasted for about 3 days... I think he got screwed when he bought it and the excrement just ran down hill.

Thanks for your response. I ended up buying an "ultima" through orielly auto for 123$ with lifetime warranty. Unfortunately while tearing the front of my Q apart I noticed the radiator hoses are weak and they are special order so shes down another week. I am also doing thermostat and goin to check the water pump bearings . Replacin fuel filter also.

My valve covers are leaking but i dont think I am ready to tackle that job

Sounds like you're having fun! The alternator isn't much fun... The only way I can get it in and out without finding someone with small hands is to unbolt the a/c compressor.

So while I am tearing it down I noticed that my vacuum lines for the blow by control and PCV system are all cracked. I am in the process of removing my upper intake to get access to the hoses.

I am going to replace them all. I called the dealership and some are discontinued and others are crazy expensive for just hose. I am going to try using regular bulk vacuum hose and hopefully I can get them to work/fit without kinks.

Any tips on this process? I have all the bolts out of the upper intake, but it seems the IACV is holding it on?

just put mine back together yesterday, you need to remove the four bolts holding the iacv to the upper plenum and swing it toward the steering wheel. That will allow you to remove the last hose holding the plenum just under the iacv towards the radiator.

Ya that is what I was thinking Mr. Thrill. I just spent like 15 minutes futzing with it with all my pliers and nothing. Hoping the gasket is reusable when I remove it. Really kicking my self for not buying those curved needle nose pliers now lol.

While I was looking at the intake, it appears that the rear of the thermostat housing has yet another radiator hose on it, and although I have not touched it yet, I assume that hose is in the same condition as all the rest and will need replaced. Since the intake has been such a pain I also plan on pulling the injectors for rebuild while I am there to avoid coming back to this.

Planning on doing the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs also, hope that isn't as painful as it looks.

Thanks for the help! I will keep updating
