It is annoying to see many small problems with my Q45. Lately the compartment by passenger seat completely fell off and I found the only way to fix it is to replace it. Before I pay probably $100+ for it from dealer, I believe I should try junk yard first. What will be the best way to search for Q45 junk yard in Phoenxi AZ area?

You mean the glove compartment? Yes... the early Q's had problems with the hinges breaking off. If you find a junk yard with one look for hinges with white plastic instead of black... that's the updated design. Check http://www.car-part.com.

Oh, and the dealership price, if it hasn't been discontinued is closer to $200 or $300 if I remember correctly.

There is a thread here somewhere about fixing the hinges as well...

Welcome to NICO!

Thank you for the information! There is no such part "Glove Compartment", or "compartment" in the "pull down meno" from the web site at http://www.car-part.com.Do you have any suggestion how to search for glove compartment?

Found this by searching glove box repair in all forums, with archived content and post bodies selected.

You're not going to need to replace the glovebox in this case but every good Q owner knows the location of all the good salvage yards within a 25 mile radius of home. Try the yellow pages or google under automotive salvage yard or automobile recycler.

Here's instructions for removing the glovebox. You might as well clean the blower fan blades and the face of the evaporator while you're there. BTW- My Ace Hardware glovebox hinge repair is still holding strong after 6 months.

Historically everyone of these hinges failed at least in Metro ATL area most were replace under warranty for those that purchased new, used [2nd owners] were limited to 60k...............mine failed in 1996 just before 90k.

They formed a matched set with the 2 sun visor hinge failures.
