1991 Q45 ACTSUS Intermittenly on
Hello all, .... I have a 1991 Q45A with the ACTSUS light intermittently on. At times the car will run and steer fine then the ACTSUS light will come on and I will have no power steering and the suspension will become really stiff. I have tried to find info on this but all ive found is info on a 1995 Q45 with leaks. My fluid level looks fine and (without racking it) I dont see and leaks. and help? thanks...

sounds like you have intermittent problems with the pump. check belt condition (no glazing, please) and tightness. if ok, then next is the two solenoids at the bottom of the dual pump.

How do your belts look, particularly your power steering belt?
The only basic thing that comes to my mind that could potentially cause the issues you are describing. It definitely sounds like intermittent loss of pump function. If your fluid level is fine and staying fine then it stands to reason that you would not be having any leaks.

The power steering belt is good and tight (no glazing either). Is the Power Steering and the ACTSUS related? I thought the ACTSUS light was just for the Active Suspension. And at times the Speedometer does not register. It is not always when the ACTSUS light is on but sometimes.

InfinitiGuy with his inquisitive form of questioning/diagnosis may have stumbled on the problem. When the speed sensor is starting to die the speedometer doesn't work and the steering gets stiff. I'm not positive since I've never had the issue but I think the speed sensor is a component of the speedo cluster, could be mounted on the transmission though.obtuce wrote:.......And at times the Speedometer does not register. Can Someone verify for me where the Speed Sensor is? Is it on the Transmission or Speedometer Clustor? and if its in the speedometer cluster what year speedos will work with a 1991 Q45. Thanks....
