1991 q45a 91k milea

Listed at 3k$. Been up for sale almost 6 months. Agreed upon a price which is great. Not willing to do the timing chain guides. The cost isnt really an issue replacing guides just the time. I would want to do it myself. Just the time is an issue. And not willing to let a dealer rape me out of 5k$ to do the job. 1991 active. First year they offered it? Is it worth keeping maintaining or importing a decent kit via bags coils etc.any easy ways to see if the guides are done? I know to look at gasket seals but honestly i would rather swap the VH than do guides.

Feedback please

You know the risks by now... if you don't want to do the guides, just cross your fingers and hope for the best! The factory RTV was a kind of powder blue color, at least in 1990. If it's that color, you can be pretty sure they haven't been touched. Any other color, and it's likely someone's been in there, but you still don't know what they did. As far as I know, no one has figured out a way to get a borescope in there to tell for sure...
