How is everybody today? My newest problem is - while I back up – I hear a dragging / scraping noise from the rear brakes. My neighbor here at work has a 1991 Q-45 and his does the same exact thing. Is there anything to worry about? :confused

One more thing, is it possible to change out my front bumper valance to a ‘94 model with fog lights? If so where is the best place to find a used one. My car is dark green in color and I have no problem painting another one if it will adapt.

To keep everybody up-to-date – My transmission / torque converter problem of it shuddering while gear changing from 3rd to 4th has almost totally gone away after the transmission flush! I now have 1500 miles on it since and have only felt the shudder a couple times and both were very slight.

Thanks for all the help…

Regards, Gary :D

To replace the front bumper, you'd also have to replace the hood and front fenders. You might also need to change the cooling fan layout under the hood. Probably more trouble that it's worth...

I can think of a couple sources of the noises you're hearing. One is the pads against the rotors. Since it's just the rears, though, my stronger hunch is that the brake shoe of the parking brake is rubbing the inside of the rotor. These can be adjusted using instructions in the manual. You'll need to remove the wheel and then rotate the rotor until the access plug is oriented downward. Then use a screwdriver to play with the adjustment gear. 6 "clicks" in from contact is what I recall.

Gary, I had the same problem in my 90Q. The rear shims which sit under the pads were broken. Try replacing the shims, Quick fix and no more noise.

Have you recently changed the pads? Maybe the shop left them out.

The wear sensor on the R/R inboard pad will make a noie like that when starting to rub the rotor.
