I've searched everywhere and haven't found a definitive answer. The transmission is a RL4R01A or RE4R01A,not sure which. The symptom is as follows; when I turn the key on to start, the E-AT switch light on the dash blinks, after starting and shifting into D the transmission starts from a dead stop in 2nd and doesn't not upshift to 3rd or when stopping down shift to 1st. I can manually shift to 1st with the gearshift and manually upshift to 2nd, but can't reach 3rd at all. OD button has no effect. I can sometimes shut off the motor and restart and the problem goes away No blinking E-AT switchlight and trans shifts fine. The problem is especially bad in wet weather. Ant thoughts as to where I should be looking? I have a Haynes Repair Manual, but it's pretty basic when it comes to transmission info. Thanks in advance!

You have an RE4R01A transmission. Have you ever had the transmission fluid serviced? E-AT switch blinking indicates there's a trouble code with the transmission.

It's a little newer but most everything should be the same. It'll put the Haynes manual to shame.

Thanx Towncivilian. I'll get to diagnosing the problem and post my results. Thanx again!
