I want to change the fuel filter on my 1991 Nissan truck. Can someone give me the proper procedure to do this? I see some people say to just take the gas cap off, then replace the filter, but I think there is more to it than that. Also, I have heard that it is easy to mess up the fuel line while changing it. Any advice is appreciated.

Yeh there's more to it. You will want to remove the fuel pump fuse and run the engine until it stalls, this will clear out the lines of any pressure that could cause fuel to splash you. You can remove the cap for safe measure. The filter itself it located next to the intake manifold and uses to clamps with phillips head screws. The bottom hose can be a real pain in the a**. Go slow and you will succeed. To install the new filter I spray the insides of the hoses with silicone lubricant which helps the filter just slip into the hose with no fighting. Hope that helps!

Thanks Rev. Have you ever encountered trouble with the fuel line? Someone said they had to replace gaskets after breaking the fuel line when changing the filter. Also, do you have the tech manual diagrams of where the fuel pump fuse is. I need to get that manual.

Shouldn't need any gaskets. Fuel pump fuse is with the other fuses under the dash.
