Alternator belt is band new, and it has been properly tensioned, i made sure everything has been done correctly but its still not chargingaroche25 wrote:How is the alternator belt? It is tensioned properly? is it too worn to grab? I did the same thing about a year ago except I replaced the alternator twice and got a new battery before I realized it was the alternator belt that has just become so worn it was charging anything.
Yes I have made sure every thing is connected correctly several times, and still not charging right. My alternator is a nissan reman from courtesyparts.com (which they have a location near me), and had it checked and replaced twice just to be safe. But it still doesn't charge the battery. Is their any other connector or fuse else where that could be bad and not let the alternator charge?marty1mc wrote:Make sure your connections to the alternator are connected and tight. If you forgot to plug in the connector, you would have the exact situation you have explained.
Next, where did you get your alternator? Autozone and Advance house brand alternators (worldwide mfg), are notorious for failure. You may want to have it tested.
Measure your voltage across the battery at 1500 rpm. If it isn't above 13.2v, you aren't charging properly. If it is, then turn on all of your accessories (lights, heater fan, radio, etc.) and measure again at 1500 rpm. It should stay at or above 13.2 v.
