Hi, what's up everyone?I'm a complete noob when it comes to car wiring, yet I want to try fixing a problem myself for once, as I'm on a tight budget right now.

I've always had problems with the audio system, they came with the car. Recently, I replaced the totally messed up head unit. It appears to be a really good one as it made the world of difference and made the audio listenable. The speaker problem remains though. The passenger side front speakers work great. The driver side is too quiet though and the small speaker at the bottom doesn't work.

The rear speakers don't work at all but the guy, who installed the head unit, told me it's because they run through the old amp that's not connected to the unit and he could connect them to the unit directly for 50 bucks. I thought, if it's 50 bucks, then it's something I can probably do so I said no but I have no idea how to do that myself.

I tried thishttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/52883but that didn't do anything at all.

I'm going to get new speakers eventually but I can't right now and I want to make all speakers work, or at least as many as possible. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. BTW, it's the Active Speaker System.

It would involve running separate speaker wires from the head unit and into the door panels and wiring them straight to the speakers. You can do this in conjunction with a new set of door speakers.

So, I decided to try and fix the front speaker and it's driving me nuts.

The problem was that the left speaker sounded too weak. So, I tested the speaker itself and it's definitely 100% fine. Then, I replaced the cable and that didn't do anything. Then, I bypassed the whole wiring plug and connected it straight to the unit's plug... same.

It's not the speaker, it's not the cable, it can't be the head unit (just replaced it) so what in the world can it possible be?? It keeps playing the same exact way.

Someone help before i set the damn thing on fire Any replies are highly appreciated.

Check the head unit itself..Some time a head unit will throw different watts to specific speaker and it will drown the other ones..If it's that then you need to replace the head unit or you can go real ghetto and connect both speakers to the right channel. You might a lot of feed back and you can also blow out your right channel...Peace!!!!

Found why the left speaker was so weak. There was a little capacitor in the wiring (Nichicon 10uf 50v). Removing it solved the problem. I don't know what it does but there is one in the wiring for the right (the working) speaker as well. I'm guessing this one burned out or something. So far, I wired the speaker directly to the unit but I'd like to know what the capacitor is for before I put everything back together. I'm thinking it might make the small speaker at the bottom work. Anyone know?
