I recently purchased a 91 Nissan Maxima V6 5spd and now I'm having some problems with it. On three (3) separate occasions, the car would not go above 1000, 2500, and 4000 rpms on acceleration. I replaced the fuel filter, rotor cap and button and now I'm stumped.
Is there anyone that has had a similar problem? I really want to keep the car because I know how reliable they are.
Here's a little info as to what happens when I tried to push the car past the rpms listed: backfires and acts as if the REV limiter is kicking in, but I don't know if this car has one.
The plugs were replaced on 9/7/08, rotor cap and button 9/6/08. I don't know what to check next. I'm an amateur mechanic and I'm stumped.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate all the input. I bought that lovely Haynes manual and didn't help me out with this problem.
