does anyone who has pulled a ka before know exactly which bolts on the front and back of the engine to attach the bracket for the engine hoist to? I really don't want to let my engine and transmission hit the ground because I used the wrong mount points. And for that matter, where can I find a bracket to match up with the bolts?

I would use a nylon snatchstrap looped through the intake manifold's #1 runner and the #4 runner of the exhuast manifold. Loop it around the hoist hook twice so it doest slip and drop your transmission's tailshaft into the ground. I always pull the transmission by itself then yank the motor but that is just personal preferences, there are good arguments for both methods

The FSM lists two lift bracket attachment points. Both are near the top of the head:one is passenger-side, towards the front, pointing to the side. There are two bolt holes, like 1" apart. The other two are on the D/S, towards the rear, again pointing outward. Two holes there also. At least one has a ground strap attached normally. You can spot them pretty easily.

I'v used ^^^'s method more than once, it works faily well. Just watch the chain doesn't slide and bust your injector caps. On my last DE install, we used a single bolt through the above mentioned lift point, and attached the other chain w/the P/S pump bracket bolt.

I'v never pulled transmission w/engine, so I can't vouch on how well it would hold with the added weight.

all the above methods work. but another method i have used on other motors is 2 bolts diagonal from each other threaded into the head and through lengths of chain. basically your bolting the chain to the head somewhere, in opposite corners. use good bolts and good chain and all will be well.
