Sometime soon after retrofitting my Q45 with new coolant, the expansion ac valve failed. That is, the AC is cooling fine, but the valve is stuck open (or closed) so that only heat comes the vents.

My repairman can't say definitively whether or not the new coolant has anything to do with the valve failure.

Can anyone of you guys answer that question?

Also, I understand that replacing the valve requires that a substantial amount of the dash has to be removed. The factory installed it between the firewall and blower motor housing. Is that in fact the location of the AC expansion valve?

Thanks Much!

Lowes has 5000 BTU home window air conditioners on sale for $99 this week. Get one of those and put in one of the rear door window openings, connect to a dc/ac power converter.Problem solved.

Proper repair will exceed value of the entire car.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that "proper repair" is out of the question. Any more creative ideas for a fix or work around?

I have had electrical switch issues on this car. Wondering if it's just a connection? Fuse?

Thanks again!

Is the car only really worth a couple of hundred? The expansion valve is only $56.38 (At the date this post was created). The hardest and most expensive part is labor.

Part number: 92200-67U02- (That's what a Nissan dealer in Japan gave me).

Trust me its not like your pulling a frame off a truck! :)

Been there, done that -

However, 5 KBTU won't cut it - You'll need something in the 10-20 KBTU range - and an AC generator to power it.
