Got a busted coolant hose under plenum recently and letting the dealer handle the problem as soon as I feel enough comfort room for the job (read "extra money"). What is the book time on the plenum removal?

Aside from this, I searched for a thread on the original wheels having leak issues but found none. Both front wheels have slow leaks but have never been damaged. Is this common for the Q aluminums?

Lastly, does anyone know of an independent in the Denver area? Thx ahead for any assistance.

Plan on $2500 for a dealer to properly replace everything needed under the plenum.

Even if you purchase the specially discounted kit from Infiniti of Scottsdale, the parts come out to $1000 for all hoses and knock sensors- and MAYBE you can find an independant shop to complete the labor of around 6-8 hours cost. Whats the labor rate at your local qualified independant shops? Will they install parts you supply? You must do a little research to save the $1000

I think more, especially if they clean anything like the TB, plenum, lower runners, EGR and IAC valves. Cleaning takes half the labor time. Most owners won't pay, so they get a reassembled engine with dirty everything.

If you decide to do a plenum job just make sure you have second transportation. No need to have the dealer ship to do it.If you are up to learning and have patience then you might as well do it your self.Just number all the hoses and stuff it'll make it easier on the long run when you order the new parts and install them.$2500 for a plenum job is ridiculous when almost anyone with patience can do it. Good luck.

When I called just to ask about the quote to get the coolant hose replaced, they said $1000-$1500 labor.

the plenum is very time consuming but not particularly difficult... unlike the chain guides, theres really not many areas that you can screw up enough to ruin the motor (I say that tounge-in-cheek)...

Last plenum job I did took me 10 solid hours and that was rushing and I managed to still make a few mistakes and had to redo some stuff... 12 hours is more like it, and ive done 3 plenum jobs.

Ive never heard of the stock wheels having leaks, sounds like an install error. The old original 15s for the Q are great quality wheels

Your tire leak issue is most likely the bead. Tire must be dismounted and wheel cleaned of rust/powder. I have done two plenum jobs. Don't fear it.

Ya see.Don't be scared off by those who say you can't.They said I can't and look at my car runs like a champ with some errors but don't have time to get to it.

Oh, cleaning mine took less than an hour. Plenum, egr, iac, throttle plate, lowers are not usually bad. egr ports are the worst. Parts tub/cleaner works best.

For the OP just make sure you got patience and not in a big hurry because if you put something wrong like I did then it's back to underneath the Plenum.

If you decide to do your plenum job yourself,be VERY VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DROP ANYTHING DOWN THE INTAKE OR INJECTOR PORTS. Unknown 007 is right that its a simple task to do,slow as you go and lable everything!

Oh yeah cover all the holes ASAP.I though I dropped a bolt down a runner but I didn't.Luckily when I re-checked the valves we closed and just saw carb. around the valves. Also keep a box to put in all bolts or at least a zip loc bag and label it.Trust me it's not that hard.If you don't wanna spend much money, espically when it's 1k+ for just labor, then just have patience.Good luck.
