I've got my manual here but I cannot tell at all from the drawing which side this sway bar goes in. It's got a slight down (or up depending which way you've got it turned) at the holes where the sway bar links go in.

Does this go in on the down angle or the up angle?

You're right, the parts drawings aren't descript either. Unless somebody else here with a D21 can look, you might need to lay it down and see which orientation leaves it closest to flat at the links with the wheels compressed.

Thanks VStar, you've alleviated any concern I had about this bar being bent due to the fact this old ranch truck was hammered for decades without any parts replaced. Yeah I was planning on popping the sway bar in, literally the last job after both sides were finished and on the ground, so that should make it obvious. I'm guessing it goes in on the up angle. We'll see.

PS that torquing of the torsion bar back into ride height was a b**** of a workout doing it by hand. And I parked the truck on the only flat spot on this mountain top which happened to be overtop a fire ant hill. Took three bites before I got that sucker up and matching the right side. When I start tearing apart the passenger side I'll be hauling out the air compressor and 1/2 impact gun for a few jobs including pressing out/in the LCA bushing and getting that torsion bar torqued back into place. geeez

Even with the front jacked to reduce the preload, I have a hard time imagining torqueing that sucker by hand in a driveway. At my age, it would probably kill me. Consider that the bar is exerting about 1,000 foot pounds on the front of the truck.

Yah, bust out the compressor for sure.
