I have a 91 300Zx that won’t idle properly. You start the car and with will idle around 1200 to 2000 for a short period of time and then it drops of and shuts the car down. I bought this car knowing it has a few problems some other issues I am having with the car is that it overheats on me. It will run fine for a while and then it will get hot and when it starts to get hot it gets real hot real quick. When I brought it home for the first time it got really hot and leaked coolant everywhere. I was told that the car has a blown head gasket but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Also was told that the fan was wired incorrectly again not sure what I should be looking for.

Blown head gasket (I didn't feel like typing you can easily search for these things man):

The head of your engine contains the valves and other components that feeds gasoline to your cylinders. The head gasket contains all of the pressures that are produced from the controlled explosions of your cylinders igniting and driving the pistons. The head gasket also keeps the water that cools your engine from entering your oil pan. A blown head gasket lets some of the pressures out and you will hear a pinging sound, worst-case scenario it will allow water to enter your engine oil you can check this with your dipstick, if your oil looks milky you have water in it. Best case scenario you will need the head gasket replaced, worst! Your heads may be warped and will have to be milled back into tolerance. Either way it's an expensive proposition.

Is your car smoking at all?

Also welcome to Nico! My name is Mark.

It smoked from the hood once, that's all ive seen but that was when it got really hot, but it also dumped coolant when it did that. I haven't seen smoke from the hood since then and i have seen much exhaust smoke.
