Okay here is the deal.

The lady across the street from me owns a 91 300z TT. She is willing to sell it to me and me only. (She's kinda got the hots for me with her old arse)

It has under 150k on it and is in need of a new battery, and possibly an alternator. She says alt, but I say something else as it wont turn over with a new batt hooked up. So I was thinking it was the starter.

Plus the aftermarket radio has been stolen, but no damage to the car. It is in remarkable condition inside and out........

So my question is this.......... Whats a fair price in current condition???

My Second question is, Where should I start to resolve the start up problem???

The battery tried was not tried by me. So naturally I will start with the batt, but then to the starter or alt??? Its been sitting up for over a year, as she has had her current vehicle (an Xterra) for some time now, and she doesnt drive the 300.

Also, I must admit, while everything under the hood looks decent, the wiring to the battery looks like its been jerri-rigged. I will grab a pic of that and then post it here for input as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in ADVANCE!!!!

thats a $8000 car minimum if its a manual trans. if the start problem is minor, like a starter which is likely what it is. put a new battery in it get the battery wiring correct have someone hold the key in the start position while you hit the starter with a hammer or something.

Did they even make the 91TT with an auto? Sounds like a sweet opportunity. Maybe you can give her $5k and lots of "attention?"

$8000!!!!!!! I DID say a 1991........ LOL

Check Out what Kelley Blue Book Says:

$4300 - $4900

Im thinking of taking this (The KBB.com recommendation and some local AUTO TRADER ads) to her, and offering $3500 AS IS, I will make any repairs neccessary. Only problem with that is, if there is more damage than what I think. I dont want to buy it and a turbo(s) are gone, yanno???? So maybe I will fix it, and see, and if it runs super good she can deduct the $$$$ for parts and work. Of our agreed upon price.

One down side......... Its an Auto........... I wonder if a manual swap is a big job on the 300z TT........

Any input????

She IS in really good shape to be a litle older than I. She DID make mention I can do some renovation work on her rental properties to work some of it off..........

(I wonder if her "coughs" counts as "rental property")

that car falls under the good condition catagory if the body and interior is clean.

Thanks NISTECH............

Ya it falls somewhere between Fair and Good. As there is no radio on account of theives and her insurance covers the aftermarket items that were in there.

There is some minor damage to the drivers side seat, which will be replaced not long after I buy the car.

There is front "air dam" damage, but not THAT bad.

I am taking pics tonight of the "under the hood", and interior, so you guys can give me some additional info.

The Fair Price : $4300

The Good Price : $4900

kbb.com

So if I do the work on repairing the car and she doesnt have someone else do it she can shave AT LEAST $800 to a $1000 Then at least gimme a break since there is no radio.

$3500 seems like a fair price "AS IS"

You dont think???? (It has been sitting up and she obviously has no need for it.)

Not to mention she has shown intrest in my '95 240 for her daughter who is just about to start driving. She is a little beat up, but hell, nothing that cant be fixed with junkyard parts. I can do the work. They will have to have it painted though.

If the 300 runs good after fixing I may offer $1500 and my 240sx.

Now that would be LOVELY...........

(But I kinda wanna keep my 240 for a SR/RB swap)

yea since its an automatic I wouldnt go to high your probably in the ball park with the milage thats on it. I have worked on many 300z's different model options, the only one I truly like driving is the tt stick shift, I am not impressed with the accel of the auto and If I am going to have to work on one of those peices of poop that I am gonna own by god its gonna be a stick!! The Z32 in my profession is a nightmere to work on since everything breaks under the hood when you have to take it apart to fix something. The reason is the heat that is generated in that engine compartment makes everything so brittle. My point is be prepared to buy more then you intended when you start doing repairs in the engine compartment.
