New here, looking for my first Z
Wondering what you guys think of this car

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3545498483.html

Wondering if there are going to start having some problems at that mileage? Decent price it seems. Also is a 2+0 more valuable for resale? Or a 2+2? Any differences between a RHD fair lady z and a LHD 300zx?

He says stock everything on engine and drivetrain and he has never had any problems besides small leak on return line for power steering. I heard this was common?

Thanks
Owen

The P/S leak is a very common issue.

Good price for the miles.

Not very high miles for a VG.

More people want a 2+0 for some reason. I personally like the 2+2, but the 2 seater usually fetches a better price. TT is obviously more expensive than N/A.

RHD and LHD, the only difference is the location of the steering wheel and controls.

If it's possible, get a compression check done, and bring someone familiar to these cars along for the test drive.

Sounds great thank you

He was saying he hasn't replaced the timing belt, but he has only had it for 1 year.
Possibly the previous owner has, but should it be replaced asap if it hadn't? With those miles...

Thanks

Well, it was supposed to be done at 60k, and if it's that far past, I'm sure it's been done. Never hurts to do preventative maintenance though.

Next one would be due at 120k, and that's the intensive one.

I'd snag it and do as much checking to see what Maint. has been done. Good looking car though, love that seat. Welcome!

Seattle guy?
I'd be looking at this one, it looks in much better shape than that silver one.

it looks clean but id make sure you get as much maintenance records as possible. that seat looks nice. it makes me wonder how hard the car has been driven. and the rust on the inside of the drivers door looks like the door got hit and rubbed through the paint after a long time. looks like a car that is going to need a good check over of the motor and drive train. i thought mine was pretty mint when i got it but but it was more then i thought but not as bad as is could have been. but thats what you get when buying 20 year old sports cars like ours

Not a huge fan of the wheels/stance, but that price is niiiice for a tt. At least for my area. Yea, like previously stated, just check maintenance.

Sorry I missed your earlier question if it was for me...I believe the car I listed was TT as I knew you were looking TT.

The current one you list here looks pretty good, but modded cars are always a risk since you really don't know what has been done to it and what may not be done well, or isn't working correctly, etc.
I seem to remember that car for sale some time earlier, and in different form more like the earlier pics lowered with the aftermarket wheels...not sure though.

I know the owner of this car, the rear quarter panel's have been cut and pulled to fit a 12" rear which can be seen in some of the pics in the link. But last I saw the car it had red duct tape over the bad paint areas. Either way I would plan to go aggressive with a wheel fitment and low like he was or it will look weird.

Here is a link to his build thread.
