Hello!

I'm having huge issues with my auto transmission on my 300zx. A little while ago I had an issue where the transmission stopped shifting from first to second and finally I wasn't able to shift it out of neutral. I brought it to a transmission shop where they said a swap would be required, so I bought a new (used) transmission and had the swap done. Only a few days after the swap the transmission again will not shift out of neutral (it will shift into first if I turn it off and on again a few times, but it wont shift into second). It would appear that after the swap, it made no difference in the transmissions performance. What could possibly be my problem? Thanks in advance.

I know this is not really what you want to hear.. But those transmission didn't get the name Autotragic for nothing.. Save yourself a headache and do a 5 speed swap.. It will save you money in the long run

That's a shame. I'd really hate to have to pay for yet another transmission swap.

transmission shift computer or auto traction control module. otherwise might just be a loose wires somewhere.

also double/triple check the trans fluid to make sure there is enough or not too much. auto trans are picky...

Did you just replace the transmission or did your replace the torque converter as well?
I had this problem:
I'd put it into drive
It would move in first but as soon as it came time to shift into second it would slip into neutral and would not go out of it until i turned the car off and on again.
Then the same problem would manifest.

I posted about it here and was told that it was the torque converter.

I took this opportunity/misfortune to just go ahead with a 5 speed swap.
Best decision I've made for the following reasons:
-I learned a lot about the car and cars in general while I was under there.
-Having the transmission out allowed me to install a lightweight flywheel and downpipes.
-Having the transmission out allowed me to replace the rear main seal.
-Overall I am much more satisfied with the 5 speed transmission.
