Okay, I got the connectingrods torques and I torques the girdle to the specified torque in the pattern specified in the FSM. My question is, how easy is the crank and pistons supposed to turn? I put new bearings on each and applied liberal amounts of the rebuild lubrcant. Because I torque it down and try to turn the crank from the front and it will not budge.

If you can't turn it by hand something isn't right.

Did the crank turn prior to doing the cradle and rodcaps?

Are the bearings the right size? What did you torque the rod caps to?What did you torque the cradle to?Are the frictional surfaces dry or oiled?

Are you torquing the bolts/nuts down by the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd set of numbers in the diagram?

Did the crank turn prior to doing the cradle and rodcaps? Yes it turned prior to being torn down.

Are the bearings the right size? I ordered the bearings for a KA24DE and They looked Identical to the ones that came off. But when I put the crank in, they did not settle right into the bearing and the same with the girdle. Meaning when I put the crank in and the girdle on there was about a 1/8" gap between the girdle and the block.

What did you torque the rod caps to? I did not have the angular wrench and it stated that you torque it to 28-33 ft-lbs. I used 30ft-lbs.

What did you torque the cradle to? it was 34-41 ft-lbs I settled for the middle, about 37 ft-lbs.

Are the frictional surfaces dry or oiled? If you mean cylinders and pistons, then they have a light coat of oil because I had it bored .040 and while waiting for the new pistons and rings I put motor oil on the walls so it would not rust.

Are you torquing the bolts/nuts down by the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd set of numbers in the diagram? I am torquing to the 3rd set of numbers because that what the little example says.

Before breaking down while trying to get the flywheel off, the engine did rotate pretty easy. When you say easy as far as turning, I am just using a wrench which is about 9 inches long, no leverage..

What are the markings on the bearings?

"Looking" the same and actually being the same is not always the case.10/20/30 thousandths of an inch can be hard to spot with the naked eye.

Have you measured the bearings you put in and compared with the originals?

The new ones could be oversized.

No, thats the correct range.

Have you tried torquing it to 34 ft/lbs and trying to spin the crank by hand?

What markings do you have on your bearings?

Okay, lets start from scratch.

Did you remove all the old bearings?

Were the crank, rods, & caps all a mirror finish? (Where the bearings go)(Clean, smooth, and undamaged)

Do you have everything mounted correctly? (In the right direction)

What do you have bolted together besides the girdle & rod caps?

Have you tried loosening the girdle and trying to spin the crank?

If you loosen the girdle and the crank spins easily, then its not the rodcaps.

If you loosen the rod caps and the crank spins easily, then its not the girdle.

OKAY, I am a total A$$. I want to apologize to you for waisting your time. The problem was I had the girdle/Cradle on backwards. After long hard look at the torque diagram I realized thet the narrow end of the girdle was aft. It works now. Once again, I apologize for waisting your time.....

Just kidding.

The main thing is that you found the problem, corrected it, and now it spins easily.
