1991 240SX- Starts SOMETIMES...

All of a sudden, my car has been acting up and only starts once in a while. It's a '91 240sx 5-spd stock KA24 still in it. At first I thought it was the battery, but that is good. Then checked the starter and that is good too. So then I checked the clutch pedal switch and bypassed the switch and it didn't fix the problem. I kind of thought it was the pedal switch because it does the same thing whether the pedal is pressed in or not. I don't even hear the relay click or anything when I go to start it. All the other electronics are working good. This really sucks because its tiresome push starting the car

use a multimeter to check if the starter is geting power when you turn the key. you may very well have a bad solenoid or relay somewere that is starting to fail making the problem intermitent.

Well, I didn't have a multimeter, so I used a screwdriver, lol. When the key is turned to start, it sparked like a SOB. So I guess that narrows it down to the starter itself. I had the starter tested just a couple months ago. I thought starters kinda wore out...not just stop working altogether.

Starter was bad. Bendix was froze up. Whacked it with a hammer on the testing table and it kicked out. It wasn't even pulling 100amps though, so it was on its way out anyway.
