1991 240sx SR20det question

Im looking into purchasing a 240sx and I came across this on my local Columbus (Ohio) craigslist. He says The engine doesnt run and he was going up a hill and it cut off on him. Any ideas on what it could be? Im mostly on Maxima.org so i figured you guys could show me the way to success (lol)

Thats the thing. He has no price set. Im thinkin $2000 (i may go a lil Higher), but he says he's stripped for cash and isnt mechanically inclined so he's pretty much ready to let it go.

i did some googling on xat. i didn't come up with anything by that name in ohio, only florida. it could be a money pit of a headache, or it could be something stupid and simple. then there's the thrashed body kit to deal with. maybe someone on here who is local and familiar with sr's would be willing to check it out with you.

Yeah all i found was the Florida thing too. And the body kit i can live wit. Im just think it could be somethin simple. Well, thats jus my mind hopin its somethin simple so i can buy this lol.

i take it you're sayin this b/c 240s have probs with rust? Ive never owned one so I honestly have no idea.

i say that because the car is 18 years old and is in a state that sees a lot of road salt during the winter. check out the stickies up top, they'll tell you all the areas which are more prone to rust damage. it all depends on the history of the car. if it was cared for rather meticulously, then chances are rust won't be a big issue. if it was neglected, then you could climb underneath and find holes everywhere.

oh ok. Yea most def the winter salt suck here. Any other ideas of what it could be?

Theres really no way for anyone on here to know what is wrong with it. Just shut off going up hill??? Not sure what significance the hill has, but sounds to me like could be fuel pump or relay, or main relay, or ignotor chip. But also could be that he blew the motor and is saying it doesnt run so he can sell it with the buyer thinking that the engine is sound. I would request more info about the car...
