This has been an ongoing problem for 2+ years. My Mechanic replaced the starter but it didn't solve the problem. Battery and spark plugs have been replaced. On cold winter days the car starts fine. On warmer days (70F) I may need to turn the key several times. If it starts in this fashion, the check engine light will come on. On hot summer days it won't start. It completely failed to start today so I took some video to get the sound. I figured that would be better than describing it. The key was turned three times.

Here's the video so you can here the clicks: http://video.google.com/videop...73807

Thank you

is that sound comming from the starter? i had the same problem but the click i heard was comming from the blue relay located behind the battery,(clutch interlock relay) so i just replaced it and it solved the problem. is your car Manual or Auto?

Where was the mic? That is loud. Where is that sound coming from?make sure battery cables are tight and clean. The starter circuit is very simple. the starter only needs ground and 12 volts postive. the clutch switch and relay and ignition switch are the only thing that interrupts the the 12v postive

if that sound is coming from starter, you probably have loose battery cables. I guess you could have a bad ground.

if the sound is the interlock relay, disconnet the harness at the starter and test to see if 12v+ is getting there when key is turned to start.

I believe the sound is comming from the starter. It's very loud and you can actually here it inside the car. I called my stepfather and he thinks the mechanic put in a faulty starter. I guess that is possible that both the original and replacement starter are faulty with the same issue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will investigate them.

If the starter is getting power it doesnt really matter if if is automatic. You have a weak battery or maybe you have the wrong type of starter for your car. You could hook starter directly to battery to test it.

What happens when you turn your lights on? Does your idle stumble? You may have a weak alternator.
