i have a 1991 nissan 240sx sr20det swapped, having an issue going into gear. bled the slave that wasnt the issue, adjusted the clutch pedal that seemed to work for about a month. then went back to not going into gear. so i tried to adjust the pedal again, and all gears will go in except 1st and reverse and when i first had this problem not going into gear those gears wouldnt go in at all. anyone have any suggestions? new clutch pedal? maybe new clutch? i have a spec stage 1 clutch in it now. please any suggestions!

What gears can you get into with the engine running at idle?

What gears can you get into with the engine not running?

Okay, now push the car forward two or three feet and then back one foot. Now try the above again. If moving the actual car suddenly makes you able to get into gears you couldn’t before moving the car, then I suspect you have transmission issues.

You have an SR20, so do you have a 5 speed or 6 speed transmission?
If 5 speed, then First and Sixth gears are on different pairs in the transmission, so different forks for each, so a small possibility of a check ball not moving freely to allow the fork to move. Have you forgotten to keep fluid in the transmission or possibly done a rebuild recently?

Can you and your friend check that pushing the clutch pedal moves the slave cylinder all the way like it should? (friend in the car and you looking at the transmission) If not, you likely have hydraulic issues, not clutch. Do you have the booster tube still on there with the second bleeder screw?

Transmissions are strong, so I suspect your clutch assembly. What’s weird is that should affect getting into and out of all gears. You may have to pull the transmission to inspect your clutch parts. Possibly pressure plate bolts coming undone or maybe a bit of debris worked into the release levers.

Sounds like more of a hydraulic problem than a transmission problem. What color is the fluid in your master cylinder reservoir? If its black, your master could be going out. Does your pedal still feel normal?
