Sounds painful. This a fairly common problem?

yeah harnesses can be replaced. but it is involved and you have to have good visual memory in how it was layed out in the car. why not try to locate the source of the failure in the harness and repair it? what is wrong with it?

I think I have a similar problem, I cant seem to keep power in my battery :\ I bought mine for 300$ and the wiring is screwed, one wire is all bubbly and half melted like it almost got into an electrical fire and soemone got to it just in time, and it is just cut and hanging there, other wires that go to vacuum lines where just cut for no apparnt reason.. and I changed the alternator thinking that was the problem .. and boy was that hell, why did nissan have to put that in the worst possible location :\ the only thing I had to lift the car where 2 flat tire jacks, you know the ones you have to screw, not a hydrolic one so it was tight under there :\

You went under the car using scissor jacks? You're a brave man. I did it once or twice long ago. It's not that the jack will collapse, the problem is that it's base is so small (unstable) the car will easily topple it over. If you're working well under the car, you'll get you'll break a few ribs. Use jack stands or ramps. I bought two ramps from pep boys the other day for $30, man it was sweeet just riding up on them and being able to work on the car, no need to jack it up, lower onto jack stands, and then have to repeat that when you're finished. Just roll on and off. :) Yeah, that's a little bit too long concerning jacks. oh well.

To the original question. You said "now" you're wiring is messed up. If it was good before then you can fix it again. If you had bought the car with wiring problems then it would be more difficult to figure oiut whats wrong. But you should know what you've done so far to the car, trace your steps back and see if you crossed wires, left wires hanging etc..
