I have a 91 240sx with a 24ka motor. recently the car has been stalling while driving. at first it was once in a while and would start right up but now it happens all the time. And it takes forever to start up again. It doesn't stutter like a fuel problem. The motor goes from fine to totally shut down. When I try to start it it cranks but won't turn over. Also it idles very hi 1100-1400 rpms. I have tried to adjust it as per the chiltons manual but it doesn't make a difference. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Thank you:help

that sounds a little like what i have. i hope it doesnt get as bad as that. i am going to tackel the PCV, EGR, i already removed the AIV and replaced the fuel filter, put new sparks, wire, ect... so far it is still there but not as often and do you run 91 octane all the time? that seemes to have helped, i am now going to check timing. it a ***** to pin down.

could be a sticky IAC valve. located at the back of the intake( just a guess since you have done so many other things). Could be EGR as you stated if it is hanging open but an easy test for that would simply be to disconnect the vaccum hose to it and drive it to see if it still does it. If not you know what the problem is.

I had the same problem.

For me it went away when I cleaned the electrical harnesses for the airflow meter and engine temp sensor.

The manual says to check all the components above, I did and they were all fine, so I cleaned the connectors with WD40 and a wire brush and again with electrical cleaner to get rid of any residue.
