I have a problem with my 91 240sx. i was driving one night and i suddenly heard a wire or something electrical blow. my car shut off right away after that. i began to look at what was wrong with it, but i couldn't find the problem. i was only 2 blocks after from my house so i decided to see if i could drive it back. the car would turn off still, but had a bad idling problem. i could still accerate and move. the next morning i tested the spark plug wires and they spark fine. my distributor seemed fine. i was thinking it was a problem with the altenator, spark plug wires, fuel pump , something along the lines of that. i am only guessing though. hopefully it is nothing to big . if anybody could help me thank you.

to further describe my problem. the car turns on, but the idle would die off by itself, i can rev, but if i don't gas the car rattles and the revs go really low. my car doesn't idle properly, any suggestions on what it could be?

You sure do have a big problem. The title "need help with this problem" tells the people browsing nothing. Good with the description of the problem.

Now onto your car's problems. Is there anything else that's not working? A bad idle is usually caused by the mafs, tps, or the iacv going to feces. However, since you said you heard something pop, have a gander at your fuses. That will at least lead you hopefully in the direction of the cause of the idling issues. If you find that the fuses and fusable links are all ok, I'd have a look at the mafs, tps and iacv. Unless you've got a savage vac leak which might also explain the popping sound you may have heard.
