My car is approaching 180000 mi. I dont think it has ever been replaced only slave cyclinder . Another reason i want to know is because it sometimes just pops out of gear when i put the clutch in and i go to move it feels like it just popped out. Also how far are you supposed to be able to push the clutch pedal in before disengages the clutch and engages< (sp) my pedal is like almost all the way out when it engages and dis.

prob slipping all the way since it's not really the disc that's totally done for but the disc/pressure plate. so yeah eventually you won't be able to shift and will need a tow home. around my neck of the woods, that can cost as much as a new clutch disc and pressure plate.

I have the same problem on my '93 hatch and I'm getting ready to replace my clutch also. If you are wanting a stock clutch, you can go up to O'Reilly auto parts if there is one around you and get one for $140. They get the whole kit for you and if you are wanting a new fly-wheel they have those also for $85. They'll also turn the fly wheel for you for an extra $25. It's the cheapest I've found for a stock clutch kit for the 240's. Hope this helps.

Have you gotten your clutch replaced yet or are you still saving. Let me know how it went if you did get to replace it.
