Recently aquired some gauges for my car - it's a Datsun with the KA24DE swap. Since the original gauges suck, I'm trying to hook up these: tachometer, water temp, oil temp and oil pressure.

I know that this engine already has taps for the stock nissan gauges (maybe except for oil temp?) but can't seem to find them, with or without manual.

Well, I did try the water temp line, which for whatever reason only works when the car is in accessory, not actually running... it still works then, but the needle continuoiusly bounces from the tempature the engine is at, to max. Back and forth. Very strange..

Anyways, any guidence on which wire(s) to tap for the tach, temp, oil temp and oil pressure would be appreciated. thanks

The needle bouncing is telling me that you are having surge problems. This means that the wire you hooked up or the wire you hooked into is not grounded properly. The oil pressure sending unit located on the bottom rear passenger side of the motor is where you can get oil temp and pressure. You will need to buy a T fitting this way you don't have to tap the blobk. I hope this helps.

Ah. I'll double check that gauge ground, as I know that the wire I'm tapping into is solid. (it's hooked to a stock gauge, and works fine... just the stock gauge has zero temp readings, which is why i bought the autometer)

sure does. thing is, my gauges are both electrical (not mechanical) does that change this process?

Any idea on the wire i should tap for the tach?

Easy way to find the wire for the tach, check out Apexi's website on the pin out diagram for the AFC's. You'll see a tach wire pointed out along with a few other key wires that run to the ecu.
