Failed an emissions test in bc, canada with high hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide during idle and driving test. I replaced my fuel injectors at least 6 months ago so I hope it is not the injectors.

My idle started being irregular after a very cold spell so I think the cold weather did something. Could a bad air regulator leak gas into the cylinder?

Im going to test the injectors and air regulator tomorrow.

I'd check injector O-Rings for a possible air leak... But the graph indicates that its running rich, not lean, as an air leak would do. Clean the MAF, IACV and make sure you are getting input from your O2 sensor. The other possibility is that your cat is borked, and as such not turning that CO into CO2 (hence the dips in your CO2 graph, where the spikes are on your other ones. But... I don't worry much about emissions, so I generally just remove everything associated with it.

Before going in for an emissions test, first thing I do is warm up the car for at least half an hour. It ensures the catalytic converter is nice and hot. I'm already quite certain that it's cold as hell where you're at, so another thing to make sure is in good shape is your CTS. It will cause a rich condition if that sensor is cold.

So from your high hydrocarbon count, you're getting alot of unburnt fuel and your high CO indicates a rich condition. So next thing I'd check over in that situation are your o-rings on your injectors still ok? Cold and rubber don't really mix well. After that I'd check over the ignition. Make sure the timing is on the money and that the plugs are firing.

Thanks, Guys.

My O2 emissions spike up to 21 at the start and by 30 seconds are zero and remain at zero for the final 60 seconds.

1. My fuel pressure is steady at spec (44 and 34 psi)with and without vacuum hose on pressure regulator.

2.With ignition just turned on, the fuel pressure falls from 44 psi to 34 psi in about 30 seconds. If I pinch the hose between fuel filter and pressure gauge, there is no loss of pressure suggesting a leaking fuel check valve. Not sure if bad fuel check valve would cause these symptoms.

3. The spark plugs are dry. I checked after car was warmed up and after car had cooled down .

4.Coolant temperature sensor has continuity between b and ground andthe resistance readings are close to spec..

5.I have the same rough idle with O2 sensor disconnected. I did a mode 2 test on ecu and the light blinked off and on over 2000 rpm suggesting mixture is correct.
