I'm swapping my automatic for a 5 speed, and I'm stuck at removing the automatic pilot bushing. I already broke Autozones puller , so I was going to dremel it out, but then I searched and read about people taking a deep socket, and filling it with grease and hammering it out. Is that how I could do it, just taking say a 12mm (or whatever fits best) deep socket, completely filling it with lithium grease, and then whacking it with a rubber mallet? And do you think if my bushing is in there hard enough to break the puller, this will even work, or is my best bet still 3 hours and a dremel? Thanks for any insight you guys have.

get a long bolt or aluminum dowel that fits almost exactly in there. get some wheel bearing grease or other thick grease and pack it into the hole. keep pushing the grease in with your finger until its basically full, getting rid of air pockets. take your bolt/dowel and hammer it w/ a few good whacks. there should will be nowhere for the grease to go except back out, along with the pilot pushing.

don't dremel.. its a waste of time and easy to mess up if you're not careful

There is the S14 5 speed swap guide I was using on my S13, about 1/3-1/2 way down is a picture, it sticks out about a quarter inch past the crank.
