1991 240: should new ecu's plug into harness with no problem?

I bought a used ecu in the forums for backup but it does not have a tight connection for at least 2 pins. With a replacement computer do you have to bend the pins to get tight connections? The pins look perfectly fine but they are definitely not making contact.
