1991-1993 240sx: Is it critical that rear caliper pins have lots of grease?

These are the pins in the brackets that have the rubber boots. Mine move freely but have virtually no lubrication. is the boot designed to act as a spring? probably dumb question. its just that i have accelerated wear on this particular wheel and also uneven wear.



also, the the caliper piston turn as it retracts? because the knob on the brake pad is supposed to sit in the groove of the caliper piston.

the anwser is a definite yes. ruined two calipers because of this. its not enoough that the pins can move freely. they need to be generously greased to work.
