1990tt my car shut off today and then it was running nasty

it smells kinda like oil and theres a really weird like hummmin noise from the back of my car i think its the fuel pump? and its running all sputtery and seems like its going to stall out

Can't really pin point your problem from what you've described. Have any more info? Something more indepth or specific?

As for the hum from the back, that's the fuel pump.

i think its my fuel pump or my maf cause i disconnect my maf and it starts right up but still saids engine check and when i do the ecu diagnostics it saids 55 which is unknown error but i did that and cleaned it and it ran fine and right when i stepped on the gas really it just shut off when i came to a stop

Code 55 is not unknown error It is No Malfunction.
