Post

Been lurking here a while garthering info and wanted to share my project.

My name is BJ

Car is a one owner 1990 2 seater NA 5sp. 170,xxx miles, 100 percent stock. (Or at least it was)

It belonged to a friends dad. He bought it new back in fall of 1989.

I got a hold of it late fall of 2015. I've always wanted a z32. These cars came out when I was 11-12 years old and have loved the style of them ever since. I've owned a lot of different cars but this is my first z car. I worked as a Audi/Porchse/VW tech for a bunch of years so I always built dubs and Audi's in the past. Few off road trucks and bikes mixed in there and now I've finally got a z car.

Motor ran like crap when I bought it, transmission shifted great but had the typical worn out shifter linkage. From the start a motor swap was on the table since it was a NA car. I considered a 5.3ls swap due to having done a few of them on other platforms but felt it better to stick with a Nissan drivetrain. Plus I'd never seen a RB swapped z32 in person. Starting researching, taking notes and laying out a budget and time table.

So I've been tinkering on it in my spare time. I'd like to have it drivable in the next 2-3 months. Here's what I've done so far.......

The motor is a S2 rb25det w/ the r33 skyline gts-t 5sp transmission 45-55 thousand miles

I'm using a bunch of the cx racing swap parts

Freddy intake manifold w/ larger tb

Stock turbo for now

Stock injectors and fuel rail (side feed) for now

The weather is good right now to work in the garage so over the next few weeks I'm going to try to get a lot done.

Any questions, inputs and advice is welcome

Thanks for looking

Welcome!
Seeing some quality work here, call me impressed except one thing- why didn't you clean/paint the bay with everything out, and such quality work going back in?
VERY much looking forward to seeing your project develop, you should really enjoy the Z with an RB even at stock boost. We have a couple of RB project guys here who should be tuning in when they see this post, hopefully they do!

I cleaned the engine bay up some too. Not going to repaint it but I have throughly cleaned and decreased it. This is no show car. It's going to be driven hard. Planning and staring the wiring this weekend. I'm away for work the next two weeks so I'm trying to get as much done as I can now.

Nice progress so far, and sounds like you are like me- I often use my vacations to work on my Z.
Carry on!

Back from the dead

I just started working on this again. It’s been so long I forgot what email I used for my original login name, so I made a new one.

Basically I haven’t touched this thing in over a year and a half, besides rolling it in and out of the garage. Life got In the way...... ut I’ve finally started to work on it again over the past couple weeks. I’m making some good progress and am very motived again. Hoping to drive it really soon. Here’s how it looks as of today.

I’m having a bit of trouble getting my pictures to post. Photobucket has changed quite a bit since last I used it. Hopefully/these pictures work.

I’ve put a Wiring Specailties harness on it, 255 lph in tank fp, 440cc injectors, 3” dp into dual 2.5” exhaust, gm ls coils, z32 maf, -6 fuel lines, adjustable rising rate fpr, 90mm TB, Southbend s2 clutch.

I’m running a stock S2 R33 ecu for now. I’ve got the stock Z32 ecu that I plan to install once I upgrade the turbo.

Hope to have more updates soon.
