1990 z holding too long in 1st gear

I have a 1990 auto z that is holding too long in first gear. RPM goes to 4 before going into second gear. Anyone have a solution for this fix? I know the transmisson isnt bad because after it goes to second she runs smoothly. Someone please help so I can drive my baby before the summer is over.

Make sure your TPS is adjusted correctly, that will mess with the shift points. If that is correctly adjusted with no dead spots, it could be the shift solenoids in the transmission itself.
