I noticed that my '90 Q45 has a lot more wind noise around the door than my '92. Especially when I get up to 100mph, the sound gets a little annoying.

The door striker appears to have been adjusted at some point to help allieviate the problem, but wind noise still persists from the top part of the door at highway speeds. The rubber looks nice and -appears- to seal very tight.

Are all '90s louder than 91-93?

Yes, there were various adjustments and some deadening material added later in sequential years .........where the drivers and passenger side mirrors attach to door.

Ultimately the problem was traced to the window glass thickness which was increased in 1994.

Eventually the runner seals deform even if they feel ok............but replacement costs usually imped returning to as new performance.

Because he can?

I don't get that much wind noise, and as the design hasn't changed, I would guess door seal.

Anyone have something to show us the difference?

Which windows were "upgraded"? The door windows? The windshield? The backglass?

The Infinity bodyshop that painted and installed the new driver's side door hinges and check strap said that exact same thing to me.

Side windows for sure in 1994. Don't know about the others.

The 1990 had a TSB for updated window glass, mirror mountings, and a way to check for noise entry around the front glass. For what it's worth, my "Q1" had the updates, and it was quieter than "Q2" that didn't. I notice my noise more when it's wet... something about the water blowing off of the bottom of the mirrors.

Since I already had the Huper Optik installed, I'm not going to pursue the countermeasure glass. Might check the windshield moulding though.

Here's the TSB

I can't hear a thing in my 90', except the bass of the old skool double-ended bazooka in the trunkl

Thank you for the TSB Heath. Haven't you sold the Pathfinder seats yet?

I got close enough that I got them boxed up... but they're still in my garage
