Car: 1990 skyline executive

Post

Hi there, My 1990 skyline executive vehicle is giving me hell at the momentbut i dont want to sell it, the problem is:

sometimes it wont start it only wants to start when it feels like it, and when it finally does start it starts out okay when it is driven but then further down the road it starts jerking real bad when i hit over 40ks, then wen i switch off the car and let it rest it drives well again then starts its cycle all over again with the jerking what should i do? should i just buy a whole new engine? do i need to do a engine rebuild? im new at this, this will be my first project car.

Someone also told me that i could even put a holden engine into a skyline vehicle if true where do i find a cheap one?

Thanks

I can't help with your problem but I can hopefully clarify a few things for the experts.

Your car is probably a R31 Australian assembled skyline with a RB30E engine. In Australia and NZ they kept selling the R31 long after the R32 was introduced in Japan.

For a time, Holden (known as GM to most on these forums) did use a nissan RB engines in their Commodores. I'm not sure how easy it would be to swap one of these over.
