1990 nissan 240sx SE 5-speed

PROBLEM: steering wheel vibration

-mods: tein tech-s, kyb gr-2's, aluminum subframe bushings-new alignment 3 days ago- brakes are pretty bad

tires were rotated by a 2nd class shopfront right tire is worn pretty bad on the outside because of the alignment problem i had

i have a problem with the steering wheel vibrating at 55-65 MPHit is in 4 second intervals. 4 seconds of smoothness, 4 seconds of vibrationthe vibration is pretty harsh.

it started when i was drifting at speeds between 90-100 MPH. i came up on a sharp turn and locked up my brakes, i let them off at about 65 and took the turn. the vibration started when i got on a straight away, or at least thats when i noticed it.

one of my friends said it could be because of my brakes, and when i locked them up at such a high speed it warped the rotor.

please help

thankszack

For starters. you need to perform the obvious basics:- inspect suspension for bent components and/or worn bushings- replace the severally worn tire- balance all the tires- perform alignment

well the first thing you need to quit doin is lying. drifting at 100 mph yea right and the last thing you want to do goin that fast straight is jam the brakes so post a real problem and quit wasting time

It doesn't matter what he was doing or how fast he was going. The point is he locked up his brakes at high speed for a good while.

When you locked up your brakes you took a pretty good amount of material off whatever part of your tires was skidding across the pavement. That put all four of your tires way out of balance. Go have someone balance your tires and make sure they're all ok after that abuse.

If you lock up the brakes like that it creates a bald spot too, if your tires have a fair amount of tread left then you won't be able to see it that easily. Try getting your tires balanced, or you could always just smoke the tires out until the flat spot goes away, yea I like idea #2.

Kindly take that trash talk to hondatech please. We don't need it around here. I'm sure you can find an age-old thread to revive there, too.

The stock bushings on my S13 and probably most of you guys cars are shot. I was told by a highly reliable source that doing an alignment and balancing the wheels is a temporary solution at best. The source of the problem is the 13+ year old stock bushings on our cars which makes a lot of since if you think about it. I need new tires and my car rides horribly especially when cornering and going over bumps but I decided not to get any(new tires) until I have replaced the bushings in some of the key suspension parts on the front and rear of the car. But that is just my opinion.
