1990 Q45 problem

ever since i was in a car accident my car doesnt gear right away. When i put it in reverse i goes right away but when i put it in drive it takes a good 5 seconds, could this be the transmission? thanks a lot

It very well could be. What kind of accident were you in? Is it possible that the linkage to the transmission is not adjusted properly or bent due to accident damage? If it was repaired under someone's insurance, I would take it back to whoever repaired it and make sure that it's notated that the problem started happening as a result of the accident... then you can pursue the insurance paying for it if it can be determined that the problem is a result of the accident.
