What do you guys think i would be better off doing. it has 185000 miles on it and needs a little tlc but still runs fine. do you think i would be better off parting it out or selling it for no more than 1200 dollars?

Say what??? I have 188K on my '96!

Even if the body and/or interior are blown, it's gotta be worth at least $1200 to someone, intact. Unless, that is, it needs a couple grand to get running right again.

So what's "a little TLC" involve? What's so wrong with it?

well the underbody is deffinettly almost shot, lots of rust. It needs a few injectors. the posi went out on the rear end. i have been driving it daily to school and work and i just dont have the time to fix it up. i have been saving up for an suv and i might pick one up tommorrow so as soon as i get my new ride i need to figure out what to do with the Q. it sure is not worth trading in. the interior is in good condition, driver seat is a little worn but the passenger and back seat are pretty mint. i have a full wood grain dash also that is in good condition. also about 2200 in the sound system. alpine head unit and eclipse speakers all around. custom box's were built in the front doors to fit the spearkers. and then two 12 inch JL's in the trunk which i will most likely be selling separately. let me know what you guys think i should do. i also am not sure if the guides have ever been done so this is one of the big reasons i think i might be better off parting it out. but i am sure somone in my area would not mind putting 1300 down to be able to say they drive a Infiniti. Let me know what you guys think.

Heck, I say put some lipstick on it and sell it. Give someone a chance to drive a tired but noble, old luxury sport sedan 'til it finally gives up the ghost. Parting-out can be a real PIA.

I assume you've tried to clean up the injectors with some BG44K? If they're ohming bad, you have a problem, cause it's not gonna run worth spit for a potential buyer. Dunno.

With that many miles on it, I don't think you have to take a lot of responsibility for how long the motor lasts. The posi is no big deal.

It's all about the injectors, I guess.

Part the whole thing out if you have the time and room.

Otherwise, get it idling and accelerating well enough and sell it for $1500.

In my opinion, putting any money into a car with serious rust issues is a waste of money. As for parting, what parts on it are really worth money? It seems to me there are a few parts that are worth something on a Q, and the rest is stuff you'll never get rid of. You'll end up with a couple hundred bucks and a torn apart car.Pull all the stereo stuff and stick it in your new car. Then dump the Q for whatever you can get for it.

parting out sucks major.... trust me, especially if your a student... Once the car cant move by itself and becomes a 4000# paperweight, thats when it gets bad....

id keep your stereo... i dont think it will add what its worth to value of the car...

i agree. if you had maybe a tiny bit of surface rust on the quarter panels or rocker, it wouldnt be a big deal.... but on a Q, if the body and interior is abysmal, then it becomes losing proposition really fast....
