My car is a 1990 Pathfinder SE-V6 4X4 Automatic. The transmission fluid level is fine, the "shift lock" fuse is good. The transmission revs up to redline and wont shift until I let off the gas for approx 2 seconds. It also wont shift into overdrive so its at about 4Krpms on the freeway if im going 70mph. The overdrive button on the shifter is on. The shift lock button on the dash is off, but when switched on the indicator light does not come on, which makes me think either ther button is broken and stuck in the on postition, or there is some other kind of electrical problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. I would like to get a better idea of what the problem might be before I take it to the repair shop. Thanks in advance.:)

hard to say could be internal trans problem or a control unit problem. The indicator light not coming on indicates it may be the control unit.

I dont know what they run price wise and it could be an input confusing the control unit. You should definitly have it diagnosed by the shop to determine the exact cause. I have not seen many of those systems malfunction. There is a way to pull codes from that system by watching that light flash. I dont know that procedure off the top of my head though since I have only used it once i think.
