Post

Hello, I have a 1990 Pathfinder 4DR 4x4 with the VG30E in it. The VG30 only has 113k miles on it but everytime I think about working on it my knuckles hate me because everything is cramped in there like crazy. I have been trying to think of a way to have similar power with an engine that is a little smaller in stature and without breaking the bank. The more I looked around I have found that the KA24DE is only down on power slightly from the VG30 and it would definitely free up lots of engine bay room. I have a T3/T4 turbo I bought for my 1969 Rambler project but that has kind of been pushed to the back burner to work on my Pathfinder.

Basically I am looking for some opinions and maybe someone who has done a similar swap. I plan on building the KA24 from the ground up once I get so I'm thinking of getting the Brain Crower 2.6L stroker kit, BC cams, custom intake manifold and the aforementioned T3/T4 turbo. I'm hoping to get around 250 lb-ft of torque as low as possible without losing freeway manners. The truck will be getting a 2"-2.5" suspension lift, 31x10.50 tires and a lockright in the rear for better off-road capability. I look forward to hearing others opinions and thank you for your time!

I will post some pictures of the truck as it sits right now as soon as possible.

Welcome to NICO.

I think you'd be better off posting this question on the Nissan Pathfinder Off Road Association forums as there is a larger population of WD21 (1987-1995 Pathfinders) owners there than here.

One more thing: if your truck has the FS5R30A transmission, you need to overfill the transmission if you haven't yet - read here.

Good luck!

EDIT: Oh, I see you're already a NPORA member and you posted this question quite a while ago in your build thread. :) Well, I hope someone knowledgeable swings by this thread! Thanks for your service, too. :patriot:
