Hey guys, My KA24e has problems I can't figure out. For the longest time, even with a completely rebuilt head, the hydraulic lifters tap badly. Finally figured out that if I change the oil the lifters prime right up and it runs quiet as a sewing machine; for a few days. Then, when enough fuel gets in the oil to thin it out it starts tapping again. Change the oil and the cycle starts over again. How is this fuel getting into my oil?? What should I check starting with the simplest thing.Runs great other than that. Help

Thanks

when you drain the oil are you sure that there is gas in the oil? I know that you might be able to tell the difference, I'm just curious how you know that it is gas in the oil...

I would think that if it indeed is gas in the oil, the only way that I could see that happening is if the car is running rich and has poor rings... b/c the only part of the engine that the fuel should encounter is the cylinders and it should only be injected when the cylinders are being compressed and then the spark ignites it all... inless of course you have fuel in the cylinders during the exhuast stroke and it doesn't get sent out of the chamber, it might get sucked through worn rings...

Never heard of getting gas in the oil... just my thoughts on how it might possibly occur... sorry that I wasn't more help
