my recently purchased 1990 240 has a clutch problem. the pedal will come up if you pull it up, and it will stay. but if you put any pressure on the pedal it will drop straight to the floor. it has good fluid and no leaks. i was told that there is like a rod inside it and if it comes off a certain point or breaks the pedal will have no pressure. i neeed all the input i can get. should i replace the slave cylinder or is there something else i can try? thanks for any and all help!

Have you removed the clutch dampener loop?If not, you have to bleed from there and the slave cylinder. The pedal will drop for a while and you'll have to pull it back up by hand, but the pressure will build eventually and you should be fine as long as there are no leaks.
