1990 NISSAN 240SX COUPE

155Kautomatic transmission.

need some help nico club

I recently acquired an automatic transmission 240sx. the car drives in neutral and doesn't have reverse. I don't know how to adjust the transmission, this being my first automatic nissan. and there is a story to this.

The guy who i bought it from towed it for 5 hours going 55mph on a U-HAUL dolly and hooked it up to the FRONT WHEELS(amateur)!!! he said it did that once before and just drove it on the "number 1" for a while and the reverse "fixed itself".

I don't know if i can just adjust the automatic transmission cable? if it sounds like it has a bad transmission/torque converter?

I need your help guys.. sorry it's a NEWBIE question.

Your problem is all in your story. Your car is rear wheel drive and even in neutral trans is still spinning. Sounds like the low rev clutch is seized due to overheating. Car should've been on a flat-bed or with rear wheels up.

According to service manual car should have not exceeded 30mph for a max of 40 miles. Your guy should have removed the propeller shaft.

Start car and smell and look at fluid color to confirm.

Hope this helps. Steve
