Hey all, I have a 1990 NA Auto 2+2 that i was hoping to switch the transmission to 5 spd for. I have many questions regarding this swap. my first question is if a 5 spd transmission would directly bolt on to an engine that originally had an auto? would there be any problems if that were the case?. second is could anybody point me to a list of all the parts i would need to do a full 5 speed conversion? ive been searching for a full list and process to do the swap but i just cant seem to find one thats detailed. third is ive been planning to do this job myself since ill be working in my own car so i was wondering if there are any people who are close to the san fernando valley in LA that would be willing to help me out or guide me in the process? thats it and i hope to follow up with my build progress. and if theres anyone selling an NA engine and 5 spd full conversion please let me know...mostly looking for it in Los Angeles area only.

There are tons of write-ups all over this forum for this topic. the trans will bolt right up, but make sure you get the right driveshaft for the 2+2 manual. the auto one will not work. you will also need a clutch and a different flywheel. you will also have to do some wiring and drill holes for the clutch pedal, which are not easy to get ahold of... there are a million details I could list on the swap, but i'm sure someone can suggest a swap thread that will give you everything you need.

good luck!
