okay, i just spent the last 2 weeks swapping in a newer engine in my 240.

It was going all gravy for about 3 days until.......

I thought i broke the clutch in good, but maybe not. (150 miles)

so i tried gunning it, i just had to, i couldn't wait any longer. lol

and then as i was shifting from 3-4 i hear knock knock knock knock.

however, its not rod knock!!!!(cuz its coming from the back of the engine/transmission) yay!!! but.....

it does sound like something is loose, like a flywheel or pressure plate. it only knocks when in neutral, or if the clutch is disengaged (foot pushed down) it still drove normal after that, i drove about 2 miles to get her home.

could my flywheel or pressure plate be making that noise? (like i torqued it wrong, cuz my dumb bro tightened it, or lack of locktite on pressure plate) or is it sumthing else?

im pulling the transmission tomoro or tuesday, so ill let u all know.

i hope i didnt blow it =[

alsp, ps serpentine belt snapped while driving home, i think it threw the crank off balance causing that

Sounds like a problem with the pressure plate or throw out bearing. Either way, tearing it down is the only way to know...

throw out bearing makes a clunking noise? like a blown engine? i didnt think it would, but idk. never had this problem b4. might it be the flywheel? 2 of the bolts were able to come off by hand, and there was a very small (.5 mm) wable with my hand.
